Closing in on the last day of this adventure and it really was just that an adventure, so you all know i didn't have but 2 of these beauties picked out and ready before hand so I've done them all on the day of and picked the title on the fly which made for some good choices (i think) as well as some just at the brink postings... nothing like a bit of nervous energy to get the blood flowing
Today a rare treat it's another one of my favorites why would i share records or music i dislike hmm that gives me an idea but maybe in the fall we'll do 7 in 7 of the least enjoyable Lp's from the archive.
The Comic Book Hero's is a great Jazz piece I've always thought this was the one with the Great Sun Ra on it and some of these grooves are reminiscent of his early "Straight Jazz" stuff but consensus tell us that it's the Batman & Robin by Dan & Dale that have Sun Ra and Al Kooper on it which i was gonna share originally and have it ready to go but at the last minute found out you can buy it so it sort of eliminated it's self from the criteria i use in in choosing Lp's form the archive Anyway even without Sun Ra's mastery this Lp is a thoroughly enjoyable listen especially on a rainy night the dialog makes it interesting and the grooves gives it that swing baby so jump on in and Dig!
Woo - this one's a keeper. I think I like it even more than the Sun Ra Batman tracks.

Oh, man, I recognize this music! It's the same album that was released as "Hang Ten: Surfin' with the Wedges." See here: http://www.munk.org/aom/?id=The_Wedges
That one itself was a retitled rerelease of the original, "Murder, Inc.," by Irving Joseph. (http://www.spaceagepop.com/lpcrime.htm)
It's as though these guys had just the one album in their vault, and they'd retitle and reissue it for each new fad.

i also downloaded that Wedges Lp a while back, and it does have a couple of the same tracks...but i dont think its completely the same. The Wedges doesnt have the vocal snippets, and was badly scratched in places. so this one is still very much appreciated! I hope you'll put some of last weeks records back up in the future cuz dammit i missed day 4 & 5 !

Ah, I didn't listen to the whole thing. Just enough to make the connection. Now that I know there's dialog, I'll give it another listen.
